Those of us who play tournaments at the $10 buy-in level and lower have a lot more inspiration today - one of our own, Omoneyman0, was the winner of the $1 million guaranteed tournament on Sunday at PokerStars.com. According to his stats at OfficialPokerRankings.com, Omoneyman0 has some previous success (finishing in the money about 19% of the time in the past 4 months for a small overall profit). But his bankroll is looking a whole lot healthier this morning after taking down the first-place prize in the 11-hour marathon.
Can't feel too sorry for runner-up "tilerman" - apparently he's only been playing at PokerStars for a week and already has a 2nd-place finish in the world's biggest weekly online poker tournament. The rest of the final table included Guesty001, tetergold, Dsnyder9521, soad_live, loosefer, taskel and zizou444. Every one of them picked up their biggest prize ever (at least on PokerStars) on Sunday.
The "Sunday Warm-Up" ($215 buy-in, $400,000 guarantee) held earlier on Sunday was won by "Soterdelf", who beat out "ZOR_Gambler" for the top prize. For someone with an average buy-in of only $16 over the past 4 months, Soterdelf has had an excellent summer: he/she also finished second in a "Warm-Up" back on July 1st! 2,143 played in that one this week.
The ultra-popular new "Sunday Hundred Grand" tournament ($11 buy-in, $100,000 guarantee and 19,203 participants) went to grotan this week. Not sure if there was a final table deal, but the published 1st place prize as over $19,000. Not bad for an $11 buy-in.
