PartyPoker Review

one of the "big two" in the world of online poker

PartyPoker recently unveiled a significant update of their client software. (If you're already a player, it'll take a couple minutes for the software to download and update.) Least important, the primary color scheme is now more green than red (guess most of us consider the idea of "green" to be a good thing). The entry page format has been rearranged somewhat, with all the usual information available but in a choice of configurations. Thankfully, there are a few pointers on the page to help you the first time you log in. The new ability to select and store some tournaments as "My Favorites" may be useful. Probably the biggest and most welcome change is the ability to resize table windows! "Multi-tablers" will love being able to click-and-drag the edge of any table to make it smaller or larger.

PartyPoker Review-Body-2

It's the biggest online poker site, so you're sure to always find a game or tournament at PartyPoker.com. Hundreds of Hold 'Em cash games running all the time. Great tournaments pretty much around the clock including $1 million guaranteed tournaments every Sunday and a $200,000 guranteed tournament every Saturday. Satellites for the annual PartyPoker Million "bricks-and-mortar" tournament (which is a particularly inappropriate way of describing this "offline" tournament - it'll be held on a cruise ship once again in March 2006). Hold 'Em is our favorite poker variety, but you'll also find Omaha and 7 card stud at PartyPoker.com.

PartyPoker Review-Body

Download the PartyPoker software and you'll soon be playing free and for-cash games. They have a great variety of methods of depositing and withdrawing funds from your account. The PartyPoker software isn't the best out there, but there certainly aren't any major problems. (Note: You won't be able to see the list of currently available tournaments until you've made a deposit to your account.) Your biggest problem will be choosing from the enormous number of games and tournaments listed at any given time.

Considering the amount of traffic at PartyPoker.com, it's a miracle that things flow as smoothly as they do. System problems and delays are very rare (and resolve themselves quickly when they do occur). You don't have the options to customize your online player that you have at some other sites, but if you're serious about playing you probably don't care.

It's a great place to play. Now excuse us, we have to go try to qualify for this weekend's big tournaments.
