This is one of the really good ones. If you're interested in working your way toward success in No-Limit Hold 'Em tournaments, this is an excellent place to start. Co-authors Brad Daugherty and Tom McEvoy bring years of experience to the table (no pun intended), covering everything from the most basic of basics to betting strategies to bluffing.

For complete beginners, the "Crash Course" section does a very good job of outlining the details of how to play the game. If you're making the move from Limit Hold 'Em to No-Limit, there's another section that covers the major differences between the games. Obviously the major difference is the limitations (or lack thereof) on the amount you can bet - and that's the core of the rest of the book.

Daugherty and McEvoy sometimes differ in their advice, but they are able to offer a "Betting Chart" that's probably one of the most valuable parts of the book. Based on where you are in a tournament and what your stack of chips looks like, they provide excellent guidelines on how much you should be betting when you come into a hand. Similarly, the advice they offer on handling a dwindling stack is worth re-reading several times (just in case you ever find yourself in something other than the #1 chip position).

Once you've absorbed (or tried to absorb, it'll take time) all of the core information, there's a large section of scenarios in the 2nd half of the book. The authors describe dozens of situations, ask "what should you do?", then analyze the right or wrong ways of approaching the scenario. Reading the information is valuable, but applying it to semi-real-world situations is even more so.

The final sections of the book discuss playing online, how to practice, and a glossary of poker terms (sometimes necessary when poker authors get carried away with using the lingo of the game). All-in-all, it's a great book, we highly recommend "No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em" by Brad Daugherty and Tom McEvoy.
